Jo Hilditch British Cassis has scooped more accolades than ever before and has been recognised by experts among the ‘best of the best’ British produced aperitifs.
This year British Cassis has been awarded two gold stars in the Great Taste Awards 2008 – the only fruit wine to be awarded two gold stars in its category and graded in the top 4% of products entered (1).
Jo Hilditch British Cassis was amongst only 18 other products to reach the finalists list of the Country Living and Waitrose Made in Britain Awards 2008. These prestigious awards attracted over 200 entries and were judged by industry experts looking for ‘the finest British fare (2).
Finally, British Cassis was awarded a Highly Commended in the Local Drinks Category at the Quality Drinks Awards (3). This award rewards those producers – both big and small - in the alcoholic drinks industry who show dedication, innovation and achievement. The judges recognised these qualities in Jo Hilditch’s British Cassis.
Jo said, “I am thrilled that our cassis has achieved so much in only the third year of production. It is important to us that our Cassis gains the recognition it so richly deserves and with these awards being judged by industry experts it is gratifying to know that our product is deemed to be among the best in the UK.”
Jo has not been resting on her laurels. She is launching her Limited Edition Framboise aperitif at this year’s Ludlow Food Festival (4). Jo describes this drink as ‘simply delicious’ and is looking to bring it to a wider market next year.
Jo adds, ”We have been looking to increase the range of alcoholic drinks we produce for a while but with the recent successes of our British Cassis, and with continually rising sales, now seems to be a good time to test the market for our Framboise. Although we don’t grow raspberries here we have sourced some perfect berries from another Herefordshire farm.”
